Which are the Specialized Accredited Councils in India?

There are fifteen specialized accredited councils in India, which are formed by UGC of India. Even though there are two more institutional accreditation councils, DEC (under IGNOU) and National Board of Accreditation NBA (under AICTE), but most of the govt. institutions and universities were affiliated and granted by these fifteen specialized designed bodies or councils that was prepared by UGC with various acts under Parliament of India.   • All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which objects to promote quality in technical education, planning and coordinating the development of technical education system in India. Visit: http://www.aicte-india.org/ for more details. 
  • Bar Council of India (BCI), a statutory body under Parliament of India that objects to operate and symbolize the Indian bar, promoting the law education, granting and funding various law colleges and universities in India. Visit: http://www.barcouncilofindia.org/ for more details. 
  • Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH) is the apex body to recognize and operate all homeopathic colleges and Universities in India. It prescribes the course curriculum, standard of education and research to promote homeopathic medicines in India.   • Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) objects to prescribe a minimum standard of education in Indian Systems of Medicine such as Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani Tibb. It also create and regulate various course curriculum and syllabi of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani Tibb for graduate and under-graduate courses; as well as affiliate and supports the colleges and Universities which perform these courses.   • Council of Architecture (COA) provides registration and affiliation of institutions and standard of education, practice and applicable qualifications that abided by the practicing architects. It also regulates the education and employment India. Visit: http://www.coa.gov.in/ for more details. 
  • Dental Council of India (DCI) objects to maintain uniform standard of dental education in India, regulate the curricula of dental qualification, trainings, and their examination India.   • Distance Education Council (DEC), constructed under Indira Gandhi National Open University, IGNOU that aims to promote open and distance learning (ODL) system and to support open universities and distance learning institutions in India; provides grants and guidelines to open and distance education; review and accredits the distance learning institutions and many more necessities. The ODL system of DEC has two approaches; first one is the National Open University (IGNOU) and second is State Open Universities (SOU), which has 13 state level universities in India till date.   • Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is one of the largest national agricultural systems in the world which has 90 accredited institutions and 45 agricultural Universities in India. ICAR is an autonomous organization (under the Dept of Agriculture Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture of India) which coordinates, guide and manage education and research in the fields like agriculture, fishery, horticulture and animal science.   • Indian Nursing Council (INC) provides a uniform education and training for nurses, midwives and health visitors in India. It is an autonomous body which acts under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India and prescribes the syllabi and curricula of nursing programs; accredits and reviews the nursing schools and institutions in India.   • Medical Council of India (MCI) was formed in the year 1933 that acts under Dept of Higher Education and Ministry of Human Resource Development of India. It objects to set up and run a consistent standard of graduate and under-graduate medical education, recommendations and registration of doctors and medical institutions in India and abroad.   • National Council for Rural Institutes (NCRI) is under Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, which helps rural institutions, NGOs, Gandhian organizations, universities of states that aims to development the rural higher education. Visit: http://www.ncri.in/ for more details. 
  • National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) is a statutory body that objects to plan and organize the improvement of teaching education and training; prepares various types of education equipments that includes distance, adult and part-time with primary, secondary and higher secondary courses in India.   • Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) objects to regulate and promote the pharmacy education, profession and practice in India.
